Early Electric

I understand that 319363 worked 2F52 06.00 Liverpool Lime Street to Wigan North Western and the 2F57 07.03 return this morning, before moving onto Airport runs.

This marks the first electric passenger working on the Wigan line, and another important step in the progress of phase two.

Only Victoria remains to be completed, and there appears to be an intriguing test train of some sort booked for this Sunday evening.  See RTT for details.

Hopefully, with the new crew and stock rosters for the new timetable which starts on 17 May, we will see a substantial increase in the numbers of EMUs out and about on all parts of phase two, albeit on unaltered diesel schedules.

  1. Do the 319s do the airport runs at weekends now?

    1. Yes - Since last Saturday I think. I don't know the diagrams though, except the 08:16 off Lime Street after arriving from Wigan.

  2. The diesel timings were very tight so the electrics should be able to adhere to the timings easier.I've noticed increased station dwell times with the 319s.

  3. 319363 worked the 1416 Liverpool - Manchester Airport yesterday which by my calculation (depending the unit not being swapped) would have meant the unit would have worked last journey of the day (2016 Liverpool - Airport & 2140 Airport - Liverpool) which could be the longest day these units have had in passenger service since joining the Northern fleet.

  4. 319368 also worked the 09:16 LIV to MIA yesterday.
